Name: Mart Prööm
Company: GOAL MARKETING
Position: Project Manager
Years in field: 6
Social media accounts: FacebookLinkedINGoal Marketing

What was your first social media business account you managed?

Nõo Lihavürst was one of the first accounts I managed. We made several different campaigns and got results that we were extremely happy with. It was very exciting to see the results of your own creation. In real time.

In 90 characters describe social media?

It gives us a new set of tools and ways to communicate with each-other. Including brands.

If you could only use one social media platform, then what would it be?

Facebook. It’s the most versatile in my opinion. And most of my friends use it. Facebook Messenger is a big part of it. Not all social media is public.

Proudest achievement?

I’ve won Kuldmuna awards for my work. It was cool. But none of them were as meaningful as my proudest moment which was winning Digitegu 2014 with SEB “Pensioni Elustiil” campaign. I had to present the campaign to an audience of about 100 people. I was so nervous but when I got on the stage and nailed it. The jury said that they picked us as winners based on my presentation mostly.

What was the coolest project that you have done or been a part of?

SEB “Pensioni Elustiil” campaign. It focused on the importance of starting to plan your retirement early on. In a nutshell, you had to choose between different options which resembled your lifestyle in the future. For example – pick between a sports car, a standard car, public transport, etc. All of these “choices” will affect your future pension and the amount that you need to save every month to afford those luxuries.

The results were amazing too. The investment into pension funds was 50 000€ more than previous months. Moreover, a lot of people shared and reacted to our campaign. It was crazy!

What world class brand would you like to manage in social media?

Manchester United. They are my favourite football team and they are awesome at social media. They have 73M followers on just Facebook alone.

If you don’t have internet and electricity for a longer period what would you do?

Play football with my friends. Enjoy a cold beer. Travel. There’s so much things you can do.

Is internet ruled by cats?

I’m more of a doge person. Sorry.

Who is your role model?

Gary Vaynerchuk. He’s all about the grind and hustle. No bullshit.

What is the biggest mistake you have seen on social media?

Not seeing things from the customer’s point of view. Marketers repeatedly make this mistake. You might think that you think like your customer but you really don’t. The right way to go about this is to actually interview and research your clients and target audience in general. I guarantee that you’ll get better results if you get inside their head. I’m a big fan of psychology btw.

What is the first step to become a social media hero?

Figure out what you love about social media and how you can help businesses. I have a problem solver type of personality. So what I love about my work is that it allows me to solve different problems, making both businesses and the people behind it happy. That’s what I enjoy the most.

What are your suggestions for a beginner social media manager?
Just dive in and start doing. You’ll learn as you go. You’ll need to find a balance between theory and practice.
